Vijay sir has done some amazing magic tricks in Mersal and none of them were shot using VFX: Atlee
We are hardly a week away from the release of Vijay’s Mersal. Probably the most awaited movie of the year, Mersal is all set to storm screens worldwide on October 18. This Atlee directorial is special for more than one reason. Apart from the Vijay factor, movie has a terrific team which includes AR Rahman, Vijayendra Prasad and a host of other renowned actors.
Vijay is said to be playing a triple role in Mersal, which is a first in his two decade long career. He is playing an 80’s village head, a doctor and a magician in the movie. From the promos itself we can make out that the magic portions in Mersal will be highly fascinating. Vijay is seen in his stylish best for this particular role, which is shot mostly in Europe.
In a recent media interaction, director Atlee was all praise for Vijay’s dedication to play the magician’s role. Vijay was professionally trained by three renowned experts – Gogo Requeim, Dani Belev and Raman Sharma. The actor has done around 12 stunning tricks in the film and none of them were shot with the help of VFX.
Producer Hema Rukmani also heaped praise on Vijay’s performance in the film. Vijay learnt the tricks in a few hours which, the experts say, would normally take a few months to perfect. She is quoted saying, “He would keep practicing it before shoot and during the final take, he adds something that makes it even better. The tiniest gestures and modulations he adds are so good to watch.”
Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Kajal Agarwal and Nithya Menen play the three female leads in Mersal. Baahubali writer KV Vijayendra Prasad and Ramana Girivasan have helmed the movie’s screenwriting along with Atlee. This big budget movie is being funded by Sri Thenandal Films.
