Vijay visits victims of Thoothukudi violence; Donates Rs 1 lakh each for the families of the deceased
In the wee hours of Wednesday, actor Vijay visited the families of those killed in the Thoothukudi-Sterlite violence. Vijay visited the homes of the deceased without any media attention in a bike to avoid creating public frenzy and security issues. The actor even apologized to the families if his visit was disturbing. He will also be visiting the hospital today to meet the injured.
According to reports, he also handed over a solatium of Rs 1 lakh each to the families. A few photos taken by the locals are going around virally in social medias. Many have appreciated Vijay for his kind gesture and his noble thought to avoid any public attention.
One of the mothers of the victim is quoted saying to Sify, “We were in deep sorrow on the demise of our daughter. Suddenly in the night, two bikes came near to our home and only later, we recognized it was Vijay. He came inside our home and told us “Sorry if I disturbed you in the late night’, that son took part in our sadness and when others tried to take a pic of him consoling us, he politely refused.”
Earlier, actors-turned-politicians Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan had also visited the victims of the Thoothukudi violence. The former’s visit had created a few issues after he said that the protest against thr Sterlite protest was infiltrated by anti-social elements.
