Villain was one of the best scripts I heard this year: Hansika Motwani
It’s been over a decade since Hansika Motwani made her debut in South Indian film industry. She is one of the leading female actors of the South after acting alongside stars like Vijay, Suriya, Jr NTR, Dhanush etc. Now, the pretty actress is making her Mollywood debut with Villain, a crime thriller directed by B Unnikrishnan.
Villain stars Mohanlal in the lead role of an ex-police officer. Apart from Hansika, the movie also marks the debut of Vishal, Srikanth and Raashi Khanna in Malayalam. Hansika signed for this project as she was highly impressed by B Unnikrishnan’s script, which also offered her a role that she has not done before.
In a recent interview Hansika elaborated about how she landed in Villain and her experience working with the team. Apparently, Hansika’s mother had wanted her to do atleast one Malayalam film. She committed for the project after hearing the script, which she felt was one of the best scripts she heard this year.
Hansika is playing a grey shaded role in the film. It is not a villainous character but has elements of grey to it. It is the kind of character she has never done before. It’s a role that every actor would want to play at least once in their career, said Hansika
Eventhough Hansika was a bit nervous about shooting in Malayalam, the team members made her comfortable and it was more like a cakewalk for her. About working with Mohanlal, she says he is a very down to earth person who makes a co-star feel very comfortable.
Villain is a big budget movie produced by Rockline Venkatesh, his first venture in Malayalam. It is the first Indian movie to be shot completely and released in 8K resolution. Earlier, it was reported that the movie would be releasing on July 21 but they had to push the release date after technical delay. An official word regarding the release date is expected to be announced this week.
