Waiting for Richie to break box office records: Odiyan director Shrikumar Menon
Nivin Pauly’s long awaited Tamil movie Richie is finally releasing tomorrow (December 8). The movie has high expectations among the audience courtesy the highly impressive teaser and trailer. Directed by debutant Gautham Ramachandran, Richie is the official remake of super hit Kannada movie Ulidavaru Kandanthe.
As the release date is nearing, the buzz surrounding Richie is getting bigger and more positive. Recently, VA Shrikumar Menon, the director of Mohanlal’s Odiyan, had tweeted about his expectations on the film. His tweet addressed to Nivin reads,
“All the best Nivin .. make it rich with your performance. Box office records to be broken await richie. God bless”
Richie is a neo-noir crime drama revolving around a mysterious murder. It is Nivin’s first straight Tamil film and the actor has pinned high hopes on the movie. He plays the titular role of a tough and fearless local rowdy. The actor himself has dubbed in Tamil, for which he had to take lot of efforts to get the diction right.
Richie also has a strong supporting cast which includes veteran actor Prakash Raj, Natty, Shraddha Srinath, Lakshmi Priya Chandramoul and Elango Kumaravel among others. B Ajaneesh Loknath, the music director of Ulidavaru Kandanthe, is composing for Richie as well.

Nivin has a fair share of popularity in Tamil Nadu post Premam and enjoys a strong fan base in Kerala. So, Richie is expected to have a solid opening at the box office tomorrow. The movie is bank rolled by Vinod Shornur and Anand Payyannur.
