Drishyam, which is the highest grosser and biggest money spinner at box office that Mollywood had ever witnessed. It had amassed rupees 75 crores and 6.5 crore rupees as satellight rights given by Asianet which is now so far the record amount in Malayalam cinema history. Mohanlal films has a large number of audience in big screens as well as mini screens . But as pre reports coming Mammootty starrer film Pathemari which has got great critical appreciation and applause from the viewers is now all set to break Drishyam’s satellite right record of 6.5 crore.
As per the rumors coming, the film was at first offered only 2 crore plus as satellite right as it is not a mass entertainer. Later from the appreciations came for the film , the amount was then raised to rupees 5 crore by the Channels. But as per reports Pathemari team is asking rupees 6.5 crore as Satellite rights and some reports says that if bargaining becomes hot then it can touch a maximum of 7 crore rupees.
The news is not confirmed by anyone officially, but things are going to be going that way accordingly. Recently there is a trend in Mollywood that two channel jointly purchase films and the channel which paid the big share in the amount will telecast the film first and after a particular number of times they will give it to the other channel who had paid only a minimal amount in it.
As per some reports Mohanlal starrer Renjith film Loham has got more than 7 crore rupees in such a business as its satellite rights had been bought by Asianet and Kairali Jointly. Asianet paid around 6 crore rupees and Kairali paid above 1 crore as per reports. The film will telecast in Asianet, a particular number of times before they gave it to Kairali for telecasting it in their channel. This news is also not an officially told one but comes from certain sources.
The Satellite rights are now bought by channel only after analyzing about its chances in mini screen when it is shown in a particular season or holidays. They have to look into the advertisement market as well through which they makes profit after buying films using such huge amount of money.
