YSR biopic: Mammootty starts shooting for Yatra in Hyderabad
As reported by last day, Mammootty has joined the sets of Yatra, his upcoming Telugu movie in which he plays the role of late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Mahi Raghav is directing this movie which is being made as a biopic on YSR. Shoot has officially kick-started in Hyderabad with Mammootty allotting around 40 days for the first schedule.
Yatra has been planned as one of the biggest movies in Telugu cinema in recent years. The recent success of Mahanati, the biopic on legendary actress Savithri, is sure to inspire the makers of Yatra. YSR is one of the most popular and revered politicians that the state of Andhra Pradesh has ever seen. Upon hearing his unfortunate death in a helicopter crash, hundreds of his followers are said to have committed suicide.
According to director Mahi Raghav, Yatra is an event-based film which primarily focuses on the time during YSR’s famous three-month-long padayatra in 2003. The padayatra was a defining moment in his career which transformed him into a people’s leader. Apart from Mammootty, the movie will also have some leading actors from Telugu cinema essaying crucial roles.
The makers ar planning to complete shooting and post-production formalities in six months and release the film by next January. The movie is being produced jointly by Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devi under the banner of 70MM Entertainments.
