Mohanlal-Priyadarshan team up for an action movie with a bigger budget than Pulimurugan

We had earlier reported that director Priyadarshan and Mohanlal would be teaming up this year for a big budget movie. According to trustworthy sources, this yet to be titled movie will be an action packed entertainer.

This is the first time the celebrated actor-director duo are joining hands for a action after the blockbuster movie Abhimanyu released way back in 1988. This movie will be made on a big canvas with a budget of 30 crores. This amount is higher than the budget of Mohanlal’s all time blockbuster Pulimurugan.

Actor Maniyanpilla Raju will be producing this big budget movie under his production house Maniyanpilla Raju Productions. The movie will go on floors by this year.

Reportedly, national award winning art director Sabu Cyril who has worked in biggies like Enthiran and Baahubali has been roped for this movie.

Mohanlal-Priyadarshan team’s recent movie Oppam was a blockbuster success which also entered the elite 50 crore club. Currently the movie is in the second position in the list of highest grossing Malayalam movies of all time, only behind Pulimurugan.

So when the two join together, naturally expectations are on the higher side. Female lead for the movie is yet to be finalized. An official announcement with other deatils about the rest of the cast and crew members is expected in the coming days.

Mohanlal, meanwhile will be joining the second schedule of Major Ravi’s upcoming war drama 1971 : Beyond Borders. He has also committed for some other big budget movies with directors B Unnikrishnan, Vysakh and Prithviraj Sukumaran (Lucifer).

Next year, Mohanlal will be acting in the epic drama Randamoozham scripted by MT Vasudevan Nair. Reportedly, it will be made as a multilingual with a whopping budget of 600 crores.
