Will Vedalam and Thoongavanam face the same fate of Massu and Puli

1 year back when a Tamil film releases here in Kerala it was almost sure that a big collection and a success is guarantee for that film. Even our Malayalam films cannot guarantee that to a producer and distributors. Many people also preferred Tamil films over Malayalam films as well. But now the situation is reversed and Tamil films had almost lost its ground here in Mollywood. All that begins with Shankar film ‘I’ starring Vikram. Even though it had got good collection due to the hype it created, the film had amassed negative word of mouth.

But the real fall started from the release of Suriya starrer film directed by Venkat Prabhu named Masss. Masss was bomber here miserably and that too in front of a Malayalam film starring young actor Nivin Pauly named Premam directed by Alphonse Puthren. It did not ended there with Suriya.

The next one to suffer was Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay who undoubtedly the Tamil star who has the maximum number of fans here. His film named Puli directed by Chimbu Devan came on October 1st and it failed as well in box office with worst mouth publicity. It don’t even get a good initial as well here. Prithviraj starrer film Ennu Ninte Moideen does the trick here this time. The next in the list was again a Vikram starrer flick named 10 Enradhukulla directed by Vijay Milton. It was released on 21st October and it also becomes a flop here and it failed before another Malayalam film Amar Akbar Anthony which is a Multi-starrer. All of these films were flops at Tamilnadu as well for that matter.

Now on this Deewali two Tamil films are coming here. One will be Thala Ajith starrer film Vedhalam and another is Ulaga Nayakan Kamal Haasan film Thoongavanam. Along with those a Malayalam film named Anarkkali starring Prithviraj also releasing. If things go in a method that has happened this year so far, there is a strong chance that these two Kollywood films will eat dust at box office once again before Mollywood films that is coming this Deewali. Will it happen again and will end the hold of Tamil cinema here completely..? It will be answered on Deewali for sure.
