Alphonse Puthren comes up with a strong reaction to State award jury chairman, director Mohan
The state film awards announced weeks before and it have had its share of controversy around it. Awards like the best actor award, best film, popular film were ended up creating lots of controversies. But later the controversy become more hot when jury chairman and veteran director Mohan said that he did not given award to the popular film award to Premam because the film did not have any structure at all. He said that it seems like a lazy effort from the director and it does not follow any rules of film making. Now Premam director Alphonse Puthren had come up with a strong reply to Mohan through his official Facebook page.
Alphonse Puthren says that the so called structure or cinematic structure to be precise is man made one. He said while creating Premam he was taking a film which he was officially comparting a butterfly to love. So when we compare the movements of a butterfly with manmade structures, we cannot find any logic and we can’t relate any steady shots in cinema to measure that movement. So his film making may seem logic less and for his small film he had to break the rules of so called structured film making.
Alphonse Puthren said that his film indeed has a structure which Mohan did not understood. He does not make films for awards. He is making film to entertain people and for the love of cinema, freedom and hope. He said that his film had run 150 days in Kerala and above 250 days in Tamil Nadu. He is not a film Maker who make films for the liking of award committee and he don’t play safe at all. He said that he is giving this reply because Mohan had degraded his film and the people worked behind the film due to his ignorance.
Alphonse Puthren added that please don’t consider his films next time for awards as well if these are the criteria for awards. He said that he loved the film Pakshe directed by Mohan and want to see more films like that. Even those film is all about love and lost love says Alphonse Puthren.
