Mohanlal was the reason behind my entry to cinema : Vidya Balan
Vidya Balan is one of the highest paid actresses in the country. She has carved a niche for herself in the film industry with her stunning performances in movies like Ishqiya, Parineeta, Dirty Picture, Kahaani etc. Her recent release Kahaani 2, received rave reviews form the critics for her impressive portrayal of Vidya Sinha/ Durga Rani Singh .
Though Vidya Balan has been concentrating primarily in Bollywood, not many know that she started her acting career from Mollywood. While pursuing her master’s degree, Vidya was cast as the female lead in director Kamal’s Chakram, opposite superstar Mohanlal. However, due to some unknown reasons the project got shelved. The project was later revived with Prithviraj and Meera Jasmine in the lead roles.
The national award winning actress recently in an interview revealed that Mohanlal was the reason behind her entry to cinema. Her parents agreed to act in movies only because it was a Mohanlal movie. She also expressed her wish to act with Mohanlal.

After Chakram was dropped, Vidya Balan moved to B- Town and made her debut through the critically acclaimed Parineeta, which won her the best debut actress award. Later on it she starred in many successful movies and became one of the leading ladies of the country. Vidya Balan is one of the very few actresses who can carry an entire movie on her shoulders.
Last year she signed for Aami, her comeback vehicle to Mollywood. The movie set to be directed by Kamal was a biopic on revolutionary writer Kamala Das. However, the actress recently opted out of the project after some creative differences with the director.
