Mammootty in Rajinikanth’s Kaala?
Superstar Rajinikanth is currently busy shooting for his upcoming movie Kaala in Mumbai. The movie, directed by Kabali director Pa Ranjith is a gangster drama set in the backdrop of Mumbai city.
The movie’s first look poster had Rajinikanth sitting on top of a jeep that had the number plate BR 1956. Interestingly, this symbolises the legendary social reformer Dr BR Ambedkar and the year he passed away.
Speculations are rife that the movie will feature some aspects about Ambedkar’s life. All of Pa Ranjith’s movies have the pro-Dalit element and he is a huge fan of Ambedkar. According to the latest buzz, Megastar Mammootty will be playing the role of Ambedkar in Kaala. Though the reports are not yet confirmed, there are enough reasons to believe it.
Mammootty immortalised Ambedkar’s role in his biopic Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. He also won the National Award for best actor for his stellar perfomace in the movie. If reports about Kaala turns true, then it will be a huge treat for fans of both the actors. Last time, Rajinikanth and Mammootty shared screen space was for Mani Ratnam’s cult classic blockbuster Thalapathy.
Kaala, which comes with the tagline Karikalan is about a guy from Tirunelveli, who runs away in his childhood to Mumbai to become an influential don living in the slums of Dharavi. Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi has been roped in to play the female lead. Nana Patekar, Samuthirakani, Anjali Patil, Ramesh Thilak, Sukanya, Sampath Raj, Arvind and many others are also part of the cast.
Santhosh Narayanan is handling the music department while Murali G is cranking the camera. Veteran Sreekar Prasad is in charge of the edits. Rajinikanth’s son-in-law and actor Dhanush is producing this gangster flick under his banner Wunderbar Films.
Kaala will be dubbed and released in Hindi and Telugu as well. The makers are planning to wrap up the shoot by the end of the year and are planning to release it by summer next year.
