Covid-19: Akshay Kumar donates Rs 25 crores to PM-CARES fund
As the whole of India is fighting hard against the Corona virus outbreak, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited generous contribution towards the newly launched Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund). Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar was among the first to contribute towards the cause. The actor donated a whopping Rs 25 crores and requested everyone to do their part. Akshay’s tweet reads,
As this is that time when all that matters is the lives of our people. And we need to do anything and everything it takes. I pledge to contribute Rs 25 crores from my savings to @narendramodi ji’s PM-CARES Fund. Let’s save lives, Jaan hai toh jahaan hai. 🙏🏻
From South India, Telugu film stars Prabhas and Pawan Kalyan had donated Rs 3 crores and Rs 1 crore to the Prime Minister relief fund respectively. Actors like Allu Arjun, Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan, Mahesh Babu, Nagarjuna and Jr NTR have provided financial assistance to the State governments of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and also to the workers of the film industry.
