Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham to hit screens only in December or early 2021
The Covid-19 pandemic has thrown the entertainment industry into a predicament. Worldwide, big production houses have been postponing the release of films that were originally scheduled for this summer. In Malayalam, the worst to be affected has to be ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’. This mammoth project made on a budget of around Rs 100 crores was supposed to release on March 28 in over 5000 theatres across the globe.
However, Covid-19 outbreak and the lockdown imposed by the government played spoilsport. Even after a month, a sense of uncertainty still looms over when things will return back to normalcy. Industry insiders inform that it might take up to August or September for theatres to open in full swing. The makers of ‘Marakkar’ meanwhile are planning to release the film only in December or early next year.
In a recent interview with TNM, the film’s director Priyadarshan had said that they are concerned about the product but are in no hurry to release the film. They will be taking a call regarding the release only when the world returns to normalcy and people are in a position to enjoy things the way they used to earlier.
‘Marakkar’ has top artists and technicians from across the country associated with it. Aashirvad Cinemas, Confident Group and Moonshot Entertainment are jointly producing the film.
