‘Narivetta’ Holds Strong at Box Office Despite Rains, Grosses ₹11 Crore Worldwide in 3 Days

Anuraj Manohar’s Narivetta, a socially resonant Malayalam-language action drama based on the 2003 Muthanga incident, has taken a solid start at the box office. The film, which stars Tovino Thomas, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Tamil actor Cheran (in his Malayalam debut), has grossed approximately ₹11 crore worldwide in its opening three days. From Kerala alone, the film has raked in an impressive ₹5.5 crore, showcasing strong audience interest despite adverse weather conditions. Produced by Tippushan and Shiyas Hassan under the banner of Indian Cinema Company, Narivetta is drawing praise for its hard-hitting theme and emotional intensity.

The film, which portrays the state’s use of police force to suppress marginalized communities, has struck a chord with audiences across urban and rural belts. Its gripping narrative and powerful performances—especially by Tovino, Suraj, and Arya Salim—have led to excellent word-of-mouth, helping maintain steady occupancy in theatres across Kerala and beyond.

Critically acclaimed for its top-notch technical work—featuring Vijay’s poignant cinematography, Shameer Muhammed’s sharp editing, and Jakes Bejoy’s intense score—Narivetta has emerged as not just a commercial success but also a significant cinematic statement. With weekend collections holding strong despite heavy rains in Kerala, trade experts predict a robust run ahead, especially if the current momentum continues into the weekdays.
