563 St Charles Street: Tovino announces his first crossover film
Tovino Thomas is easily the most busiest actor in Malayalam cinema at present. The actor currently has around ten projects in his kitty and yet another one was announced last day. Titled as ‘563 St Charles Street’, the movie is billed as a crossover film, which is a first for Tovino. Debutant Rony Roy will be directing the movie and is produced by B Rakesh of Universal Cinema.
Crossover films usually seek to explore the different value systems and beliefs that emerge when a person or a community crosses cultural boundaries. Crossover genre movies only give an authentic portrayal of the ways of living in a cross-cultural set up. Prithviraj Sukumaran’s ‘Ranam’, which was an action film set in Detroit, was publicised as a crossover film.
Interestingly, the core team of technicians from ‘Ranam’ have been retained for ‘563 St Charles Street’, which includes cinematographer Jigme Tenzing, composer Jakes Bejoy and editor Sreejith Sarang. The movie’s story is by director Rony Roy and screenplay is by Sangeeth Jain.
