Actor Karthik Kumar quits after calling himself a failure
Actor Karthik Kumar who has acted in films like Alaipayuthe, Yaaradi Nee Mohini and more recently, Pasanga 2 have called it quits from the film industry.
The actor announced this through his Facebook page. The actor blamed himself for his failure as an actor because he sold himself short, did not ask for more and failed to believe in himself.
The 38 year old has also criticized the industry, that many actors from a theatre background were treated disrespectfully. Most of them were underpaid, undervalued and edited out in the final cut from many feature films.
Karthik after completing his engineering graduation, started working in films debuting with Mani Ratnam’s Alaipayuthe. He continued to give notable performances through films like Yuva, Kanda Naal Muthal, Deiva Thirumagal, Veppam, Yaaradi Nee Mohini, Pasanga 2, David etc. He has also starred in three Hindi movies
He is married to playback singer Suchitra Ramadurai. His confessions have received support from number of his fans and friends, who have appreciated him for having the courage to write about the working of Kollywood industry and for admitting his failures.
Karthik Kumar is also a popular theatre artist and a stand-up comedian. Karthik is also the co-founder of Chennai’s theatre and entertainment group Evam.
