Adi Kappyare Kootamani director John Varghese against Vijay Babu and Sandra Thomas
Popular production banner Friday Film House is now in the verge of annihilation. The company owned by Sandra Thomas and Vijay Babu have produced around 10 films and made a name for themselves in the industry. They were known for giving chances to many talented youngsters. Most of their movies had new comers in the cast and crew departments. But eventually the partners ended up in a tussle and have parted ways following issues over the company’s ownership. Recently, a police case was filed against Vijay Babu for assaulting Sandra Thomas in his office. She was admitted in a private hospital in Kochi, from where the police registered the case.
Now another severe allegation have cropped up against the production house after the director of superhit movie Adi Kappyare Kootamani, John Varghese has filed a case against them in the court. John Varghese said, “Adi Kappyare Kootamani was initially planned to be made in Tamil. Friday Film House came forward to produce the movie in Malayalam after they liked the script. I had told them about my wish to do the movie in Tamil and asked them to add a clause in the agreement. But it was not there in the agreement. When I asked about it, they told me that they forgot about the clause. I trusted them and went forward with the shoot.”
“During the filming, they asked me to sign another agreement. As I was busy with the shoot, I signed it. The agreement was made in such a way that the script and remake rights were now their property. After the movie was released to good response and went on to become a success, another producer came forward to remake it in Tamil. We had even finalised the cast. When I went to the Friday Film House office to discuss the matter, I was told that they will produce the movie in Tamil also. It was only later that I realized that they had cheated me. So decided to file a case against them before the law. Eventhough Adi Kappyare Kootamani was a superhit movie which earned more than 4 crores as profit for the producers, I was offered a very measly amount as remuneration.”
John Varghese also blamed the production house for him not being able to do another movie after Adi Kappyare Kootamani. The movie starred Dhyan Sreenivasan, Aju Varghese, Neeraj Madhav, Mukesh and Namitha Pramod in the lead roles. It was a comedy entertainer with some elements of horror also.
