After Hindi, Telugu and Tamil, Ayyappanum Koshiyum set to be remade in Kannada as well
Superhit Malayalam film ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ is still hot in the remake circles. The makers have already sold the Hindi, Telugu and Tamil remake rights. Latest we hear is that the Kannada rights have also been sold for a hefty price. An official announcement regarding the team behind it will be out soon.
‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ directed by late Sachy is a dual hero film that revolves around the conflict between a policeman and a retired havildar. It tells an intricately woven tale of revenge with socio-political issues also addressed. Prithviraj and Biju Menon played the lead roles in it. The film was a huge success, both critically and commercially.
‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ is getting remade in Telugu with Pawan Kalyan and Rana Daggubati as the leads. Saagar K Chandra is directing the remake version, which is yet-to-be titled. Sithara Entertainments, one of the leading banners in Telugu industry, is producing the film. The makers have got Trivikram Srinivas to adapt the screenplay and dialogues.
S Kathiresan, who has produced acclaimed films like ‘Aadukalam’ and ‘Jigarthanda’, has acquired the rights of the Tamil version. No other details have been revealed yet. In Hindi, John Abraham bagged the remake rights. John and Abhishek Bachchan are being considered to play the lead roles but there is still no confirmation regarding the same.
It will be very interesting to see how ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ gets adapated in different languages to suit the sensibilities of the native audience.
