Ajith’s Vivegam storms past the 50 crore mark!
Thala Ajith’s highly anticipated Vivegam was released on August 24 in around 3000 screens all across the globe. This Siva directorial had tremendous pre-release hype majorly due to the highly impressive promos teasers and songs. Vivegam opened to mixed reviews with many criticizing Siva’s lacklustre direction even while lavishing praise on Ajith’s efforts and hardwork.
However, the mixed reports has not really affected the movie’s box office collections. The film reportedly raked in a whopping Rs 33.08 crore worldwide, with Rs 25.83 crore from Indian box office alone. In Tamil Nadu, the movie grossed Rs 17 crore on the opening day thereby becoming Ajith’s best ever opening. The film, however, failed to beat superstar Rajinikanth’s Kabali, which earned Rs 21 crore on day one in TN box office.
On its second day, Vivegam earned more than Rs 30 crore worldwide. So far, Vivegam is said to have grossed Rs 66 crore from its first two days of theatrical run. The bookings for Saturday and Sunday have also been very good so the makers will be hoping that the movie enters the elite hundred crore club with the first week theatrical run itself.
Vivegam is an spy thriller directed by Siruthai Siva. The movie also stars Vivek Oberoi, Akshara Haasan and Kajal Agarwal in prominent roles. Sathya Jyothi films have invested a whopping budegt of over Rs 100 crores for this ambitious movie.
