AR Rahman to compose for Bruce Lee biopic
Bruce Lee is unargubaly the most famous and influential martial artist of all time. An authorized biopic on the legend’s life is being made and Indian director Shekhar Kapur is helming it. Bruce Lee’s daughter Shannon has co-scripted the movie titled as Little Dragon. She is also producing it with backing from Chinese investors.
Oscar award winning composer AR Rahman has been roped in to handle the music department in the movie. Rahman is one of the most sought after composers globally and has been involved in many international projects. His recent work for the legendary Brazilian footabller Pelé’s biopic Pelé: Birth of a Legend won him numerous accolades.
AR Rahman was shortlisted for the 89th Academy Awards for nomination under Academy Award for Best Original Scorea mong 145 candidates. The song Ginga composed by him found its place among 91 contenders under Academy Award for Best Original Song. The audience will be eagerly looking forward to his work in Bruce Lee’s biopic.
As per the makers, Little Dragaon, the biopic on Bruce Lee’s life will be a contemporary take on Bruce Lee who, aside from being considered the most gifted and famous martial artist of all time, is now accepted as a significant major philosopher.
The film set in the Hong Kong of will follow a young Bruce Lee as he comes to terms with his family’s disappointment, young love, betrayal and racism in the early years of his international career.
Shekhar Kapur is a noted director who has helmed Oscar-nominated biopics like Elizabeth (1998) and Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007). Little Dragon is being made as an official US-China co-production, with several Chinese companies attached to co-finance and co-produce, including Dadi Media Group, Beijing Golden World Pictures, Shanghai Longzhilin Cultural Investment Partnership and Kirin Media.
