AR Rahman hopes to see Baahubali 2 cross 2000 crores at the box office
SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is unstoppable at the box office. The sequel in the Baahubali franchise has already minted over Rs 1500 crores and is currently the highest grossing Indian movie ever.
Even after four weeks of it’s release, there is still no slide in the collections worldwide. Appreciation continues to pour in from all corners. Recently, Academy Award winner AR Rahman congratulated the team after watching the movie. He lauded the Baahubali team for opening the flood gates for South Indian cinema to the global level.
AR Rahman wrote,
“To Rajamouli garu, Keeravani garu and the whole team of BB2… Just finished watching it in Chennai. I hope it crosses 2000 cr and above at the box office. You guys have opened the flood gates for South Indian cinema to the world and given it a new identity” (sic)
An elated SS Rajamouli wrote back to Rahman,
“Thanks you very much sir. Your appreciation makes it very special.”
AR Rahman was recently present at the Cannes Film Festival for the official launch of director Sundar C’s magnum opus Sangamithra. This multi crore project starring Jayam Ravi, Arya and Shruthi Haasan in the lead roles, is also an epic period drama. AR Rahman is handling the music department for this project.
While talking to media present at Cannes, the Sangamithra team including Rahman were all praise for Baahubali. The composer pointed out that the filmmakers in India have been trying to do a film like Baahubali for a few years now but, only Rajamouli and team succeeded at it. He added that he is a very big fan of Rajamouli films and he really liked the special effects of Magadheera.
