Rajinikanth to join BJP; Likely to meet Narendra Modi soon
After years of speculations, superstar Rajinikanth finally hinted about his entry to politics in a recent interaction with his fans in Chennai. There are reports about Rajinikanth’s plans to join the BJP.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and senior leader Amit Shah said that the actor is most welcome if he wishes to join the party. BJP leaders from Tamil Nadu have also extended their welcome to the actor. There are widespread talks about Rajinikanth planning to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon. It is worth a mention that Modi had visited Rajinikanth in the latter’s residence when he visited Chennai 3 years back during the elections.

Meanwhile, members of a fringe pro-Tamil group burnt an effigy of Rajinikanth, opposing his entry into politics. The Tamizhar Munnetra Padai has planned to picket his house at Poes Garden. Security has been beefed up in the area following their threat. Over 25 protesters were arrested and detained under preventive custody
They claim that Rajinikanth, who originally hails from Karnataka should not be allowed to enter Tamil Nadu politics. There is long standing tension between the two states over the Cauvery river water sharing dispute. But Rajinikanth has always maintained that he is a pure Tamilian who is indebted to the people of Tamil Nadu for making him what he is today.
