Aravind Swamy speaks up against beef ban

Following the central government’s decision to ban sale of cattle for slaughter, there was a huge uproar among the citizens especially in the South. Now celebrities have also started raising their voice against the government’s rule.

After Siddharth, prominent actor Aravind Swamy has also expressed his opinion against the controversial ban on cattle slaughter. The actor, in his Twitter space wrote,

“India- one of the top countries in the world for children suffering from malnutrition; ranked 67/80 on the world hunger index and yet …We find reasons to take food off the table. Wish the same energy is spent on finding ways to feed people. That is what all religions preach.”

Earlier, Siddharth in a series of tweets expressed his dissent to certain policies of the ruling BJP government. He questioned about the cattle slaughter issue and asked the central government to stay out. He also asked the BJP government to stop the Hindu nation narrative.

Following were his tweets,

Dear #BJP you have power. Empower #India. Stay out of people’s private choices. Stop this#Hindu nation narrative. We are better than that.

The row about #cattle markets is unnecessary and only polarises people. State govts allow or disallow slaughter. #Center should stay out.

Most of us are neither #bhakts nor #libtards or whatever these ugly names are. We are just#Indians. Live and let live. Stop the hate!

Siddharth had‏ also posted a photo and expressed his concern about people injured in the clash over slaughter ban. The actor mentioned about the incident in IIT Madras where a Malayali PhD research student was attacked by a group of students for supporting beef consumption.

The Narendra Modi government’s newly introduced rule that bans the sale of cattle for slaughter triggered widespread protests in several parts of the country especially in Kerala, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu.
