Audience would get to see the old, bubbly Mohanlal in Drama: Asha Sarath
Asha Sarath has been doing a variety of roles lately. While she played a tough CBI officer in the Tamil-Telugu bilingual Bhaagamathie, she essayed the role of woman from the 1930s in Jayaraj’s National award winning Bhayankam. Her performance in the latter was applauded by the critics. Asha is also playing the female lead in Ranjith’s upcoming movie, Drama. The movie has her playing the role of Mohanlal’s wife.
Asha has pinned high hopes on Drama. The movie is entirely set in the UK. It is about the lives of Malayalis living abroad. Asha Sarath plays the role of Rekha. In a recent interview to DC, she revealed that we will get to see the old, bubbly Mohanlal in the movie. According to her, the movie will be a complete entertainer that will make the audience think and laugh out loud.
Interestingly, this is the third time Asha is playing the role of Mohanlal’s wife. They were also seen as a couple in Karmayodha and 1971: Beyond Borders. Apart from the that, they have also acted together in hit films like Drishyam and Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol. They both share a great rapport and that has always reflected on their performances on-screen.
Ranjith has scripted Drama as a feel-good movie with good dose of humour, sentiments and family drama. Unlike his earlier films with Mohanlal, Drama will not have any superstar elements such as massive action scenes or dialogues
Arundhathi Nag, Siddique, Niranj, Mythili, Shalin Zoya and Tini Tom and Baiju are also part of the movie’s cast.
MK Nassar and Maha Subair are jointly producing the movie under the banners of Lilypad Motion Pictures and Varnachithra Good Line Productions. It is expected to hit have a grand release in September.
