Baahubali 2: The Conclusion goes well past Mohanlal’s Drishyam
SS Rajaamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which was perhaps the most anticipated perhaps Indian movie ever, was released worldwide on April 28. The movie, released in four languages, went on to shatter almost all possible records in the Indian box office. It had recently crossed the 100 day mark and is still being screened in some selected theatres across the country.
In Kerala, Baahubali 2 had a massive release in 320 screens, a record for any language movie in the state. The movie opened to phenomenal response among the Malayali audience and soon went on a record shattering spree. According to latest reports, the movie has successfully surpassed Mohanlal’s Drishyam to emerge as the all-time second highest grosser in Kerala.
Drishyam, released in 2013, had grossed around Rs 70 crores during its theatrical run. According to United Global Media, the distributors of Baahuabli 2 in Kerala, the Prabhas starrer has earned over Rs 73 crores. Now only Pulimurugan stands ahead of Baahuabli 2 in the list of highest grossers. Pulimurugan’s earnings is estimated to be around Rs 150 crores.
Baahubali 2: The Conclusion was released in three languages in Kerala- Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam. Tamil version was the most preferred one among the Malayalis and it is still being screened in a couple of theatres in Trivandrum.
