Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas to star in Telugu remake of Dhanush’s Karnan
The recently released blockbuster Tamil film ‘Karnan’ is getting remade in Telugu. Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas will be reprising the lead role played by Dhanush in the original. He is known for starring in films like ‘Alludu Seenu’, ‘Jaya Janaki’ and ‘Nayaka’. Earlier, he had also starred in the Telugu remake of ‘Ratchasan’. The actor is currently busy making his Bollywood debut with the remake of Prabhas starrer ‘Chatrapathi’.
The Telugu remake rights of ‘Karnan’ has already been bought for a hefty price. Though rumours suggested that Bellamkonda Suresh had secured the rights, it is now reported that the remake will be produced by a different person. An official announcement with details regarding the director and other cast and crew members is expected to be made soon.
‘Karnan’ directed by Mari Selvaraj is a rural-based drama that is partly inspired by real life incidents. It is a hard-hitting and thought-provoking film about oppression, custody violence and institutional discrimination. While Dhanush played the titular role, the film also stars Rajisha Vijayan, Lal, Lakshmipriya Chandramouli, Azhagar Perumal, Natarajan Subramanian, Gouri Kishan and Yogi Babu.
