Big Brother streaming rights sold for a whopping price; Second biggest deal in Malayalam after Lucifer!
Malayalam cinema’s market has seen a remarkable growth in the last few years. Along with the wide reach in foreign countries, the arrival of OTT platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime have opened a new avenue for producers to earn good deals. The streaming rights of Mohanlal’s upcoming film ‘Big Brother’ has been bagged by Amazon Prime for a huge price. Though the exact figure has not yet been revealed, it is said to be the second biggest deal in Malayalam industry after ‘Lucifer’. Earlier, the film’s satellite rights were acquired by Surya TV for a big amount.
‘Big Brother’ is written and directed by veteran Siddique. It is the actor-director duo’s third film together after ‘Vietnam Colony’ and ‘Ladies and Gentleman’. According to the director, this is the most expensive film in his career as it has been made as a proper superstar film. It is expected to be a complete entertainer with all commercial elements in it.
‘Big Brother’ will have Mohanlal, Anoop Menon and ‘June’ fame Sarjano Khalid as siblings. Bollywood actor Arbaaz Khan is making his Malayalam debut by essaying a police officer’s character. Mirna Menon, Gadha, Honey Rose, Vishnu Unnikrishnan, Siddique, Tini Tom, Janardhanan, Satna Titus and Chemban Vinod Jose are also part of the supporting cast. The film is most likely to hit screens on January 16.
