C/O Saira Banu; Manju Warrier’s best performance after her comeback
Debutant director Antony Sony’s C/O Saira Banu, released yesterday, is getting good reports from all the centres. Critics have rated it as a decent watch that can be enjoyed with families. The movie stars Manju Warrier in the titular role and it also marks the comeback of yesteryear actress Amala Akkineni to Mollywood after a gap of over two decades. Kismath fame Shane Nigam is also playing a major role in the movie.
Manju Warrier has played a post woman in the movie while Shane Nigam is her adopted son, Joshua Peter. He is a law college student who wishes to become a photographer just like his father. However, fate has something else in store and he gets caught in legal issues. Amala is seen in the role of advocate Annie John Tharavady in her comeback movie.
Manju Warrier’s performance as the veil clad Saira Banu is regarded as her best after she made the sensational comeback in 2014. Eventhough her performance could not match up to those in her prime time, it’s certainly her best in recent times.
Most of the characters in her comeback movies were very much similar to each other. She was getting typecast in repeatedly doing the same kind of roles- one who overcomes all the post marriage obstacles to finally emerge as the ‘strong and independent’ woman.
However, Saira Banu had her in a different role as a post woman with a pre-degree educational qualification. She was lively and energetic in the inital half and was equally good in the emotional scenes towards the end.
C/O Saira Banu is scripted by newbie RJ Shaan and Bipin Chandran has written the dialogues. Cinematography is handled by Abdul Rahim while Sagar Dass is in charge of the edits. Mejo Joseph is the music director. Eros International has bank rolled the movie.
