There is always been the chance of comparison between two actors if they were contemporaries and it will be between their skill or about their star value. Fans are the ones who regularly makes these kind of comparison based on the above mentioned factors. Mammootty and Mohanlal is the two super stars of Mollywood and the comparison between the two is now just like an everyday affair for mollywood film lovers and they are doing it for the past thirty odd years and still seems to be not found an answer. But the topic here is Dulquer Salmaan gets more number of theaters in Kerala for his upcoming Tamil film OK Kanmani which will release this Friday all over than his father mega star Mammootty’s Vishu film Bhaskar The Rascal.
Trade guide Sreedhar Pillai tweeted that Dulquer Salmaan had hot more theaters for his film than his father Mammootty’s latest flick which released on this vishu day. Sreedhar Pillai also said that now it had become a very common thing in Mollywood that Tamil films getting more number of theaters than our own Malayalam films. Dulquer’s latest is a Tamil film which is helmed by Maniratnam and people like P C Sreeram and A R Rahman were part of this film as well.
The big names associated with it increases the market value of the film and it naturally got more number of screens here. And this also made some to compare Mammootty and Dulquer on the basis of star value as well. But we have to read it in a different perspective. Just before the vacation releases of this year mollywood is said to going through a worst patch and during that time Tamil flicks like Shankar’s Vikram film I and Gautham Vasedev Menon’s thala Ajith film Yennai Arinthal got record number of theaters here and really made it big at the box office as well.
Even if look at the number of theaters got by Karthi’s Komban and Udayanidhi Stalin’s Nanpenda it will be clear that mollywood films gets ignored by our exhibitors and they give more preference to Tamil films. Mollywood had now woke from the ashes with the vacation releases and this revival is mostly done by Mohanlal and Nivin Pauly films.
