Hano : Tovino Thomas to team up with Tom Emmatty again for a big budget movie
Tovino Thomas is currently on a high after the blockbuster success of his latest release Oru Mexican Aparatha (OMA). Director of Oru Mexican Aparatha, Tom Emmatty and Tovino Thomas will be teaming up again next year.
While Oru Mexican Aparatha was a campus political drama, the new movie will be a big budget period drama. The movie which is tentatively titled as Hano will be based on a true story that happened in 1520.
The director in a recent interview revealed that the movie is based on a story about an elephant and its mahout who were sent from Kochi to the Vatican. Tovino is playing the role of a mahout in the movie.
Hano is being planned as a 3D film and will be made as a multilingual in Malayalam, Italian and Portuguese languages. Scripting has already been completed. The director and his team are currently scouting for suitable locations.
Manu Jagadh, who has worked as an art director in Baahubali, has been roped in to head the art department to recreate the 1500s setting. Hano is expected to go on floors by next year. The movie will reportedly be bank rolled by a foreign production company.
Hano is Tovino’s second big budget movie in the pipeline. He has already committed for Chengazhi Nambiyar is a period drama which will be directed by creative director and VFX supervisor Sidhil Subramanian.
The movie is based on the life of Chengazhi Nambiar, Chandroth Panicker and many other historical figures who fought against Samoothiri in Maamaankam in 1505 AD.
Tovino is playing the role of Puthumana Panicker in this movie. The team has not yet released details about the other cast members. It is also being planned as a multilingual in all major Indian languages. Top stars from other industries are rumoured to be part of the movie.
