It has been over 30 years since I came into the industry. But, this is the first time that I am getting such an honor: Indrans
In the recently held CPC Awards 2016, actor Indrans was selected for the Special Honorary award for his contribution to cinema. An emotional Indrans while receiving the award said, “It has been over 30 years since I came into the industry. But, this is the first time that I am getting such an honor.”
He used an interesting allegory as well to explain his current situation.
“Now I am like a retired soldier, I could not shoot as I was amidst a lot of other soldiers. But, have the gun, so will continue firing.”
CPC Awards was organised a Facebook group, Cinema Paradiso Club which has more than 80,000 passionate cinema lovers as their members. The organisers have been getting a lot of appreciation for awarding deserving performers unlike the channel awards where winners are selected based on personal choices, star values and TRP ratings.
Vinayakan won the best actor award for his performance as Ganga in Rajeev Ravi’s Kammattipaadam. Rajisha Vijayan and Sai Pallavi shared the award for best actress for their performances in Anuraga Karikkin Vellam and Kali respectively. Dileesh Pothen was chosen the best director while his movie Maheshinte Prathikaram won the best movie of the year award.
The event was held on Sunday in the Cochin Palace Hotel. Apart from the winners, Jayasurya, Saiju Kurup, Vijay Babu, Shalin Zoya, Baby Meenakshi and director Basil Joseph graced the occasion.
