It’s extremely tough to remake Mohanlal sir’s films: Venkatesh
Telugu superstar Venkatesh Daggubati is known for starring in a number of hit remake films. He has acted in several remakes of Tamil and Malayalam films. In a recent interview to a Tamil channel, he recounted about how he is blessed to act in remake films of stars like Rajinikanth, Vijayakanth, Suriya, Vikram, Madhavan, Mammootty, Prabhu, Bhagyaraj, Sarath Kumar etc.
However, Venkatesh is still wary of remaking Mohanlal’s films as he feels it is extremely difficult to recreate his performance. Though he has been offered several films of Mohanlal to be remade in Telugu, he declined most of them because he feels Mohanlal’s performance is unique, special and magical. But he still decided to remake ‘Drishyam’ after he found the storyline itself very fresh and interesting.
The Telugu version of ‘Drishyam’, which was titled as ‘Drushyam’, was directed by actress-turned-filmmaker Sripriya. While Meena and Esther Anil got retained, Venkatesh, and Nadhiya reprising the respective roles played by Mohanlal and Asha Sarath in the original. The film emerged as a big hit and was also one of the highest grossing Telugu films of the 2014.
