Kammatipaadam is not a Dulquer Salmaan movie
Kammatipaadam aka Kammatti Paadam, the much awaited film from Rajeev Ravi-Dulquer Salmaan team had released all over today and getting good reviews from critics and audience alike. The film is a realistic take on the history of Goonda gangs in Kochi, specially a place in Kochi named Kammatipaadam. Dulquer Salmaan plays the character named Krishnan and Vinayakan plays a character named Gangan, who are the central characters in this plot. But we have to say that Kammattipadam is not a Dulquer Salmaan movie. You will not get any elements from this flick which you expect from a usual Dulquer Salmaan movie. It is a different one and gives you a different experience altogether.
The film focuses not only on Dulquer’s character, but also on several lives there at Kammatipaadam. Gangan, Balan, Surendran, Sumesh, Anitha etc are some of them. It does not have much romance, comedy, or may be typical action that you expect from a usual entertainer. But Rajeev Ravi narrated this story through a different path. The back and forth movements in the story will give us the identity crisis through which each characters goes through in their life.

Dulquer Salmaan gave a decent performance as Krishnan. But the star of the show is Vinayakan. He had just lived as Gangan on screen. In his looks, dialogues, body language and in every subtle way he portrayed Gangan to its perfection and gave a feel that no one in this world can do this character as perfect as he did. Manikandan Achari, artist who played the character named Balan also gave a sterling performance and in fact it was he who got the applause of the audience most of the times in the movie after Vinayakan.
Rajeev Ravi once again proved his craft and the mastery he has over the proceedings. He had mixed up realism with mass appeal and done a great job as a film maker. Screenplay by P Balachandran ably supported the unique way of film making by Rajeev Ravi and together they made a fantastic output and a never seen before cinematic experience. If you are a Rajeev Ravi fan, then you will love this movie. If you are not a Rajeev Ravi fan, then you will start admiring him after watching this film.
