Kattappa’ Sathyaraj lands a prominent role in Sangamithra
Veteran actor Sathyaraj is now a popular face all across the country thanks to his role of Kattappa in SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali series. His character Kattappa had almost equal prominence to the lead roles and his performance as the loyal warrior was highly appreciated by the critics as well as the common audience.
Now according to latest reports, Sathyaraj has landed a crucial role in the upcoming magnum opus Sangamithra. This Sundar C directorial is being planned as the most expensive Tamil movie ever. Sri Thenandal Films is reportedly investing over Rs 250 crores for this massive project.
If reports are to be believed, Sathyaraj will be seen in a pivotal character in the film. Sangamithra is also an epic period film on the lines of Baahubali. The movie, written and directed by Sundar C, was supposed to have Shruti Haasan in the titular role. However, she opted out of the project after they had an high profile launch in the Cannes Film Festival.
Jayam Ravi and Arya are playing the male leads in the movie. The movie is set in the 8th century AD and both the actors are tipped to be playing warriors in the film. Jayam Ravi and Arya have been undergoing rigorous training in horse riding, physical combat and other weapon-based martial arts training.
Sathyaraj’s casting is yet to be officially confirmed by the makers of Sangamithra. Meanwhile, he is also playing a integral part in Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s upcoming movie Mersal, also produced by Sri Thenandal Films. Venkat Prabhu’s multi starrer Party is another movie in the veteran’s kitty.
