Kerala Cafe, 5 Sundarikal and now Solo; Yet another anthology film from Mollywood!

Malayalam movies are known for their experimental themes and the realistic approach in story telling. A wide variety of themes have been explored in Mollywood. But an anthology film is something that has not been attempted here. Kerala Cafe and 5 Sundarikal are probably the only two films that falls under this category. Now, we have another such film in Dulquer Salmaan’s Solo.

Solo is basically an anthology inspired from Lord Shiva. Shiva is known for his extreme emotions and this movie has on love and rage as its premise. Dulquer Salmaan plays four different characters – Rudra, Siva, Trilok and Shekar – in the movie. Each of these characters represent Lord Shiva. Also, these four characters are sketched from the four elements – earth, wind, fire and water.

The four different protagonists played by Dulquer are connected to these elements. Bejoy Nambiar, who has also scripted the film, has woven these elements into four stories. It is a mix-genre attempt and the movie has a very unique treatment.

Since Solo is being made as a bilingual, the movie has a plethora of actors from several industries. Dino Morea, Ann Augustine, Arti Venkatesh, Sai Dhansika, Deepti Sati, Sai Tamhankar, Sruthi Hariharan, Govind Menon, Sheelu Abraham, Manoj K Jayan, Prakash Belawadi, Bengali filmmaker Quashiq Mukherjee, Sathish, Soubin Shahir and many others are part of the cast.

Music for the movie is composed by many composers which includes several leading bands and independent musicians. Girish Gangadharan, Sejal Shah and Madhu Neelakandan have cranked the camera for the movie.

Abraham Mathew has produced the Malayalam version under the banner of Abaam Movies. Tamil version is jointly funded by Anil Jain and Bejoy Nambiar. The movie is all set to hit screens on October 5.
