Makers of Rakshadikari Baiju donate their State Award cash prize to Disaster Relief Fund
Kerala is going through a terrible phase as torrential rains have wreaked havoc in several parts of the state. According to the government reports, this is the worst floods in the history of Kerala. Rescue and rehabilitation efforts have been severely hit by continuous rains. Roads, homes, shops and other properties worth hundred of crores have already been lost due to the rains.
The state’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had requested people to contribute generously to help better the situation. Following his request, various political parties, businessmen and celebrities have donated to the Cheif Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund (CMDRF). The makers of last year’s superhit movie Rakshadikari Baiju have donated the cash prize they received as State Award to the disaster relief fund.
Rakshadhikari Baiju won the award for best film of aesthetic quality and popular appeal. Producers Alexander Mathew and Satish Mohan of 100th Monkey Movies and director Ranjan Pramod met Agriculture Minister VS Sunil Kumar and handed over Rs 2 lakhs to the relief fund. This is such a great gesture from the makers of Rakshadikari Baiju. It will hopefully inspire many other award winners to contribute to the fund.
