Malayalam cinema industry unanimously appreciates Take Off
Editor turned filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan’s debut directorial Take Off was released yesterday in 224 theatres all over India. The movie has been getting extraordinary reports from all corners. Critics have praised the movie and the team’s efforts to bring out the movie in such a big scale.
Celebrities from the industry have been showering their praise for Take Off. Directors like Ranjith Sankar, Arun Vaidyanthan, Boban Samuel, Akhil Paul, Jude Anthany Joseph, Vinay Govind, Basil Joseph have all written high about the movie in their social media pages.
Take Off is inspired from real life incidents that happened in 2014 when a group of Malayali nurses were trapped in Iraq due to the terrorist attacks. Director Mahesh Narayanan who has also written the movie along with PV Shaji Kumar has weaved an interesting plot revolving around the central character Sameera. The movie’s inital half explores the family life of nurses, the issues they have to face before shifting gears to the rescue operations in Iraq.
Parvathy Menon has played the central character and Kunchacko Boban, Fahadh Faasil and Asif Ali have played other pivotal characters. All the actors have given tremendous performances and due appreciation is flowing in for them.
Take Off is being made as a tribute to late filmmaker Rajesh Pillai. It is funded by Anto Joseph and Shebin Becker in association with Rajesh Pillai Films. Megha Rajesh Pillai is the executive producer of the movie.
Sanu Varghese who has worked in movies like Vishwaroopam and Wazir has cranked the camera. Mahesh Narayanan and Abhilash Balachandran have handled the cuts while Shaan Rahman has composed the music.
Technically also it is regarded as one of the best ever Malayalam movies. Critics have praised the team’s efforts to deliver such a technically superior movie within the budget constraints of Malayalam film industry. The popular voice in social medias is that with this movie, Malayalam cinema has truly taken off.
