Mamangam to be the biggest ever release for a Malayalam film; 400 screens in Kerala alone!
After postponing the release date from November 21, the makers of ‘Mamangam’ are now working round the clock to ensure post-production works are finished in time. The film has been rescheduled to hit screens on December 12. Expectations are sky-high on the film majorly due to the huge scale at which it is being made. The makers are planning it as the biggest ever release for a Malayalam film.
Buzz is that over 400 screens are being charted in Kerala alone, which includes the major centres in the state. In that case, a record-breaking opening is definitely on the cards. Apart from the Malayalam version, the dubbed Tamil, Telugu and Hindi versions will also be releasing simultaneously on the same day.
‘Mamangam’ directed by M Padmakumar is an epic film made on a massive budget. As per the makers, it is a historic film with almost 80% of it being inspired from real events. It is based on the religious festival, Mamangam, that took place every 12 years in a place called Thirunavaya, on the banks of Bharathapuzha, for over 280 years. Mammootty and Unni Mukundan play fearless warriors in the film. Child actor Achuthan plays another major role.
The cast also includes Kaniha, Anu Sithara, Prachi Tehlan, Siddique, Sudev Nair, Tarun Arora, Suresh Krishna, Manikuttan, Manikandan, Ineya and Sudheer Sukumaran. The film also boasts of a strong technical crew comprising of State award winning cinematographer Manoj Pillai, veteran music director M Jayachandran and art director Mohandas. Bollywood-based composer Sanchit Balhara is handling the background score.
Venu Kunnappilly of Kavya Films is producing this big budget film.
