Mammootty pays tribute to CRPF jawan Vasantha Kumar killed in Pulwama terror attack
The recent terror attack in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir has sent shock waves across India. Citizens from all walks of the society have come together in condemning the cowardly attack and seeking justice for the 40 CRPF personnel who lost their lives. Among the slain jawans was VV Vasantha Kumar, who hails from Wayanad in Kerala.
Malayalam actor Mammootty, who reached Wayanad today as part of shoot of his new movie ‘Unda’, visited the jawan’s home at Lakkidi and paid his respects. The actor also spent time with Vasantha Kumar’s family members and consoled them. He was accompanied by actor Abu Salim and Bijo Alexander, the deputy superintendent of Special Branch, Wayand.
Vasantha Kumar’s funeral was held last Saturday with military military and State honours on the premises of his ancestral house at Mukkamkunnu, near Thrikkaipetta. He is survived by wife Sheena, daughter Anamika, and son Amardeep.
