Mammootty’s next will be a crime thriller
We had already told you that popular cinematographer Shamdat is turning a filmmaker through a Mammootty starrer. The latest we hear is that the movie will go on floors next week in Kochi.
According to reports, Mammootty will be seen as a police officer in the movie. This yet-to-be-titled movie is said to be a crime thriller and Mammootty will be seen as an investigative officer.
The actor was last seen as a police officer in Kasaba directed by Nithin Renji Panicker. His character Rajan Zachariah, was not the usual ‘filmy’ honest and diplomatic cop, but one with a tinge of misogyny and grey shades. Mammootty has played several celebrated police roles in his career like the iconic Balram of Avanazhi and Perumal in August 1.
Shamdat is a renowned cinematographer noted for his works in movies like Ritu, Seniors, Oozham and the recently released Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan. He has worked with Kamal Hassan in movies like Uttama Villain and the yet to be released Vishwaroopam 2.
Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan fame Vishnu Unnikrishnan and Lijomol Jose are also part of this Mammootty starrer. The film doesn’t have a heroine as such, as it is a tale of many characters. Kochi, Chennai and Pollachi are the major locations.
Mammootty’s next release is the much anticipated revenge thriller The Great Father, scheduled to hit screens on March 30. National award winner Ram’s bilingual Peranbu is also expected to hit screens soon. Ace filmmaker Ranjith’s Puthan Panam is another movie waiting to hit screens.
He is currently shooting for 7th Day fame Shyam Dhar’s untitled movie in which he is playing a Idukki native who arrives in Kochi as a teacher trainer.
