Mammootty’s Streetlights to be released simultaneously in 3 languages!

Mammootty’s Streetlights has raised a lot of curiosity among the audience. Unlike the usual superstar films, Streetlights was a very less talked project about during the time of shoot. Most people did not even know that such a movie is getting ready till the first look posters were released. Mammootty’s stylish avatar in the posters became an instant hit and raised the expectations.

Streetlights was shot simultaneously in Tamil and Malayalam, and is now getting a Telugu version as well. This is probably the first time that a Mammootty starrer is getting a simultaneous release in three languages. The movie was expected to hit screens this month but was postponed at the last moment. The makers decided to dub the movie in Telugu only recently as they felt that the content will appeal to the Telugu audience.

Streetlights marks the directorial debut of ace cinematographer Shamdat, who was worked in all South Indian languages. Some of his notable works include Ritu, Seniors and Uttama Villain. He is also the DOP in Kamal Haasan’s upcoming magnum opus Vishwaroopam 2.

Streetlights is a crime thriller in which Mammootty plays the role of an investigating officer. Newcomer Fawaz Muhammed has scripted the movie. After being impressed by the narrative, Mammootty himself came forward to produce the film. The makers have maintained high secrecy about this film which has naturally piqued the curiosity among the audience.

Unlike most bilinguals, Streetlights was shot separately in both languages with different set of actors. The Malayalam verison stars Joy Mathew, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Neena Kurup, Lijomol Jose, Sohan Seenulal, Indrans, Sudhi Koppa and Harish Kanaran among others.

Veteran actor Pandiarajan, his son Prithvi Rajan, Manobala, Black Pandi, Motta Rajendran and some other noted supporting actors feature in the Tamil version. The movie doesn’t have a heroine as such, as it is a tale of many characters.

Debutant Adarsh Abraham has composed the songs and Iyobinte Pusthakam fame Yakzan Pereira and Neha Nair are handling the background score and. Director Shamdat’s brother Sadat Sainudeen has cranked the camera.

An official word regarding the exact release date will be made only after the dubbing works for the Telugu version is completed.
