Mani Ratnam set to make a return to Bollywood!
Mani Ratnam is easily one of the greatest Indian filmmakers ever. The six-time National award winner has worked with several top actors of the country. Though he predominantly works in Tamil, Mani Ratnam has made acclaimed films in Hindi as well, like ‘Dil Se’, ‘Yuva’, ‘Guru’, ‘Ravan’ etc. After a gap of over a decade, the veteran is planning to make a comeback to Bollywood.
In a recent interaction with his social media followers, Mani revealed that is currently trying to write a Hindi script. He refused to divulge further details about the cast. Meanwhile, the director is also working on his highly ambitious project ‘Ponniyin Selvan’. The film stars a plethora of stars like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Trisha, Vikram Prabhu, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Lekshmi Sarath Kumar, Jayaram, Prabhu, Kishore, Rahman, Lal, Ashwin Kakumanu and many others.
‘Ponniyin Selvan’ is originally based on a historical Tamil novel of the same name written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. It is being made in two parts. The film’s first schedule of shoot was wrapped up in Thailand in January. Mani Ratnam’s own banner Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions are collaborating for this mega budget film’s production.
