Massive star cast in Maari 2!
The sequel for Dhanush’s Maari is slated to go on floors early next year. Balaji Mohan, who helmed the first part, will be directing the sequel as well. Though the first part was just an average grosser, Maari is having a sequel thanks to the hugely popularity of Dhanush’s character and the music, which was a rage among the youngsters.
The makers have brought on board a stellar star cast for Maari 2. Promising young Malayali starring Tovino Thomas is playing the antagonist and Premam fame Sai Pallavi has been roped in as the female lead. Varalakshmi Sarathkumar will also be seen in a prominent role in the movie.
Singing Tovino as the villain was a great move by the makers as the actor enjoys good market in Kerala. The director had recently said that he enjoyed sketching the villain character and assured that Tovino’s combination scenes with Dhanush will be very interesting. The villain role in the first part, played by Vijay Yesudas, was the movie’s weakest link. So, the director has taken extra care this time to place a strong antagonist opposite the powerful Maari. Sai Pallavi enjoys a great fan following among the South audience and her casting is definitely a big booster as well.
Yuvan Shankar Raja has replaced Anirudh to handle the music department. Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films will be producing Maari 2. The makers have informed that the movie will be made as a bilingual in Tamil and Telugu.
