Mohanlal’s second only Telugu film in his career is now in progress at Hyderabad. The film is titled as Manamantha and is directing by the director who had won national award for his first film of his career, Chandrashekhar Yeleti. His film Aithe had won National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu in 2003. Apart from that that film had won Nandi Award for Best Story Writer, Nandi Special Jury Award-Pavan Malhotra, Filmfare Best Villain Award (Telugu) – Pavan Malhotra etc. In this film Mohanlal is playing the lead and Gauthami is playing the female lead opposite him.
Chandrasekhar Yeleti had directed only 6 films before this one in his 13 year old career as a film director. He always looked for class film in an industry who cares more for mass masala entertainers. He had won two Andhrapradesh Nandi awards for his screenplays of the film Aithe and Anukokunda Oka Roju. Later he directed films like Okkadunnadu, 50 Lakhs, Pranayam and Sahasam. Manamandha will have artists like Urvashi, Nedumudi Venu, S P Balasubramaniam etc as well as per latest reports and it will be a small budget film. All his films had been noted for its intelligent screenplays and the creative concepts of him had got appreciation from both critics as well as from the audience alike.
Mohanlal had earlier played only a cameo role in Telugu film in his career. It was in a song sequence in the film Gandeevam directed by Priyadarshan, the popular Mollywood director and a great friend of Mohanlal. Now, Mohanlal is learning the Telugu language for playing the lead character in this film and he reportedly doing another Telugu film as well with Jr NTR, which will be directed by Koratala Siva. It will be a mass entertainer as per reports and titled as Janatha Garage.
