Mohanlal opens up about the 1000 crore project The Mahabarata
Mohanlal had recently opened up, through his Facebook handle, about his much awaited epic movie based on the MT Vasudevan Nair’s award winning novel Randamoozham. The feature film adaptation of the novel has been titled as The Mahabharata. The movie will be produced by business tycoon Dr BR Shetty on a whopping budget of Rs 1000 crores.
The actor had praised the writer’s profound knowledge in the Hindu epic Mahabharata. He said “I am filled with gratitude and extend it to the crew behind this epic movie for casting me to play Bheeman. One of MT’s cult classics Randamoozham is visualized throughout by Bheemasenan. From a kid, I used to grow up hearing the story of the Mahabharata. It is a classic which stands apart from the other classics in the Indian scriptures and arises our thinking. Likewise, Randamoozham too gave me the same feeling. I don’t remember the exact number of times I’ve read Randamoozham. It was during some instinct then I had thought about the dramatisation of Randamoozham visually. I really thank MT sir once again for giving me the opportunity to portray an important character in this movie.”
He had also complimented the passion the producer Dr. BR Shetty had put in: “The film should be presented in front of the audience fully loaded with all the technical aspects needed. And therefore a humongous budget should be charted in for the flick. I salute the passion Dr. BR Shetty have had to invest Rs. 1000 crores for the movie. It would be an inspirational gift for the generations to come.”
The movie will be produced as two parts and would be released in 2020. Shoot for this ambitious project will kick start in September 2018. It will be made as multilingual in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and foreign releases. There are unconfirmed reports about Amitabh Bachchan playing the role of Bheemasenan in the movie. The director VA Shrikumar and Mohanlal would be seen teaming up for a 3D movie Odiyan before the release of The Mahabharata.
