Mohanlal sir is my favorite, says Veeram actress Divina Thakur
Model turned actress Divina Thakur made her entry into movies through director Jayaraj’s highly expected historic drama Veeram.
Veeram is an epic historical drama, an adaptation of legendary poet Shakespear’s classic Macbeth. It is the fifth installment in director Jayaraj’s Navarasa series.
Divina Thakur landed in Veeram after Jayaraj spotted her in an ad film. The actress is also an expert in the martial art, Kalaripayattu. She was roped into play the role of Kuttimani in the movie. She shared her experience working for the movie in a recent interview. ” The was role was not a cakewalk but neither was it a hardship because I was already trained in kalari and the body postures are very important while doing Kalari.”
For playing Kuttimani, she had to put on a few kilos. “I play this voluptuous beauty who knows her power. I put on 8-10 kilos for playing the part. My character has a lot many shades like love, greed, ambition, lust for power and betrayal.”

When asked if she watches Malayalam films the actress said, “though I am not an ardent watcher of Malayalam films, I like Mohanlal, Dulquer Salmaan, Prithviraj and Jayaraj sir’s films. But Mohanlal sir is my favourite.”
Bollywood actor Kunal Kapoor is playing the role of historic character Chanthu Chekavar in the movie. Veeram is said to be the most expensive movie ever made in Malayalam cinema with a budget of around 35 crores. It is produced together by Chandramohan Pillai and Pradeep Rajan of Chandrakala Arts.
The movie is made as a trilingual in Malayalam, Hindi and English. There will be dubbed versions in Tamil and Telugu also. Veeram was recently screened in the 21st International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).
