Mohanlal’s Randamoozham aka The Mahabharata will be the most expensive Indian movie
Reports about a movie adaptation of MT Vasudevan Nair’s epic novel Randamoozham has been surfacing social media forums for a long time now. Mohanlal had earlier revealed that the project will be happening soon and some big names will be involved in the project.
Today, the makers have finally made an official announcement. The feature film adaptation of Randamoozham has been titled as The Mahabarata. The movie is being produced by business tycoon BR Shetty at a whopping budget of Rs 1000 crores (USD 150 million).
The Mahabarata will be the most expensive Indian movie ever, toppling all other biggies by a huge margin. The movie will be made as a multilingual in English, Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Hindi and Telugu. It will also be dubbed into all major Indian and foreign languages.
Popular ad filmmaker VA Shrikumar Menon will be directing this movie, which is scheduled to start rolling by September 2018. The movie will be produced in two parts with the second part hitting screens within three months time from the first part’s release. They are eyeing to release the movie by 2020.
Randamoozham is based on the Hindu epic Mahabharatha and is told from the point of view of Bheemasenan. Mohanlal would be playing the role of Bheeman in this epic drama. Other leading actors from Indian cinema and Hollywood will be part of this big budget movie. The technical crew will also have some best talents from across the globe.
