After Mumbai Police, Rahman and Prithviraj to team up once again!
Prithviraj is currently in the US shooting for his upcoming movie Detroit Crossing aka Ranam. This ambitious crossover film is directed by debutant Nirmal Sahadev, a former associate of Shyamaprasad. The movie explores the lives of the immigrant community in Detroit, Michigan. Prithviraj plays a Tamil street gang member in the movie, which is inspired by real-life incidents.
Veteran actor Rahman has been roped in to play a prominent role in the movie. The actor in a recent interview to TOI has said that his character is a daring step in Malayalam cinema. Apparently, it is a very challenging character and the actor is very much excited about playing it. Rahman last shared screen space with Prithviraj in the superhit movie Mumbai Police.
Isha Talwar is playing the female lead in Detroit Crossing. Initially, Mamta Mohandas was supposed to play the female lead but she got replaced due to date issues. Prithviraj will be seen in a grey shaded role and Isha Talwar also essays an equally important role. It is a very a strong and mature character that also has several shades.
Detroit Crossing aka Ranam falls under the category of a dark neo-noir thriller, perhaps the first such Malayalam movie. Noted Tamil actors like Ashwin Kumar and Sampath Raj are also part of the cast. The team will be shooting for nearly 50 days in the US. Most of its crew members are from the US itslef.
Cinematography is being handled by Lukasz Pruchnik, who previously worked in Fahadh Faasil’s Monsoon Mangoes. Dhuruvangal 16 fame Jakes Bejoy is handling the music department. The movie is being produced by Anand Kumar Payyanur under the banner of Yes Cinema Company.
