Porattam: A movie made on a budget of just Rs 25,000
Malayalam cinema has always been known for its out of the box ideas and their bold themes. The industry is currently going through a phenomenal phase were youngsters are upping the ante by delivering quality films that boasts of solid content and great technical values.
Now, a group of ambitious Malayali youngsters have joined together to make the world’s least expensive movie. The movie, titled as Porattam is directed by debutant Bilahari. The director and his young team have together raised Rs 25,000 as budget for this movie.
Porattam will be releasing under the banner of Plan B Infotainments. The movie was shot in the director’s house as well as his neighbors’ and relatives’ homes. The entire shoot was wrapped up in a matter of just 15 days.
Shalin Zoya, who made her entry in Malayalam film industry as a child artist is making her debut as a lead actress with this movie. Navajith Narayanan, Vineeth Vasudevan and many other newcomers are also part of the movie’s cast.
Porattam discusses about a very relevant social issue. The movie has been shot without a full bound script. The young team have used a new strategy where they developed the plot through the characters during the time of shoot.
Sreeraj Raveendran, who has shot many ad films has cranked the camera for this movie. Akash Joseph has handled the editing and colouring. Mujeeb Majeed is in charge of the music department. The makers are planning to screen the movie in various film festivals.
