Prithviraj hints that a sequel for Ranam is in the offing!
Prithviraj’s crossover film ‘Ranam’, was an ambitious one that didn’t quite live up to the expectations. Written and directed by debutant Nirmal Sahadev, the showcased the troubled lives of a bunch of Malayalis and a Sri Lankan-Tamilian drug lord living in Detroit. The attempt to make a crossover film was praised by many but it didn’t work overall, majorly due to the lack of proper substance.
Last day, Prithviraj shared a fan edited photo of his character in ‘Ranam’ which resembles one of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s from the inconic film ‘Terminator’. He also captioned it with the famous dialogue from the film, ‘I’ll be back’. This has triggered speculations that ‘Ranam’ might be a sequel in the near future.
Earlier also Prithviraj had shared about how tempted he is to make a second part of the film. Apparently, director Nirmal Sahadev’s original vision of the film could not be brought on screen, reasons for the same, however, are not yet known. In an Instagram post shared last September, Prithviraj had written,
Knowing what Nirmal Sahadev’s original vision was, and also knowing how much of the script we couldn’t film, sometimes I’m tempted to attempt a sequel to what Aadhi in Ranam could have been.
Meanwhile, Prithviraj and Nirmal are next collaborating for ‘Sundari’, a female-centric film that has Aishwarya Lekshmi in the lead. Nirmal is directing the film and Prithviraj will be presenting it under his banner. Shoot is scheduled to begin next March.
